Hi Margot, welcome to Review Zoo.
Which country do you call home?
The Netherlands.
When did you start your music journey?
I started singing lessons when I was eight years old.
What got you into music?
When I was young I saw a lot of television talent shows and similar programs that inspired me to become a singer. I also grew up in a musical house. My mother is a guitar teacher and my father plays the piano very well.
What are your hobbies outside of music? I love my animals, I have 4 cats and a dog and spend a lot of time with them. I also make my own jewelry and clothing for a hobby and I love to cook. Who is your favorite music artist? I love it when singers are real voice artists and can do things with there voice that is hard to imitate. Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga and Lewis Capaldi are those ones for me. But at the moment I am also a big fan of Maneskin. Who’s your biggest inspiration? I think that would be the Spice Girls. Those were my favorites when I was young. My whole room was filled with posters, stickers and all. Their whole being, power, attitude and catchy songs were the reason I also wanted to be a singer. A night out in the town or a night in the studio? A night in the studio for sure! That relaxes me more! What would you like to achieve in the next 10 years? I hope to write more music myself and reach a bigger audience with my singing than I have now. There is also a little dream I have to own my own theatre. A place with a stage, different studios to rehearse or record music and a dancing hall. It does not need to be big, but it would be so cool to own a theater. For my own performances, performances with my singing students or to rent to other artists. So, who knows? What do you feel your biggest strong point is as an artist? I think my perseverance and the will to keep learning. I still take singing classes and workshops myself, to keep learning new things about my voice, even though I am a singing teacher myself. And as a singer you also get to deal with a lot of no’s at auditions for example and I think I am a strong person who’d always persevere, because the will to sing, the passion is so much stronger. What’s your favourite drink? Fresh herbal tea or fresh made smoothies Favourite food? I like everything, but Asian food is always my favorite! Sweets or savoury? Both! But sweets always only after evening dinner. Which Instruments can you play? The piano, ukulele and learning the guitar! Are there other genres of music you really like outside of your chosen genre? Yes, I like the musical genre and also rock and hiphop music. Any new releases or anything else you’d like to add? Not a new release at the moment, but I am working on becoming a musical duo with a singing girlfriend of mine. We are planning to start something in the spiritual environment. Something I don’t have the experience in, but she has and it is nice to do something very different for a change. We are going to perform at for example women’s circles and meditative concerts. Thanks Margot
