“20 Years in the Making” – Two Iconic Canadian Bands Reunite to Celebrate Career-Defining Albums
Multi-platinum, JUNO Award-winning rock heavyweights Alexisonfire and Billy Talent have announced two very special co-headline performances in celebration of the 20th anniversaries of their landmark 2006 albums, Crisis and Billy Talent II.
The exclusive shows will take place at OVO Wembley Arena on June 24, 2026, and at Bell Centre on July 17, 2026. In true co-headline style, the bands will alternate closing duties — Alexisonfire will close the London show, while Billy Talent will headline in Montreal.
Each night promises a full-album performance of the records that helped define modern Canadian rock. Alexisonfire will perform Crisis in its entirety, while Billy Talent will deliver a front-to-back performance of Billy Talent II.
Opening acts include post-hardcore favourites Touché Amoré in London, and genre-blending hardcore outfit Faze in Montreal.
A Shared Legacy in Canadian Rock
Since emerging in the early 2000s, Alexisonfire and Billy Talent have stood at the forefront of Canadian rock. With Alexisonfire’s self-titled debut arriving in 2002 and Billy Talent’s breakthrough debut following in 2003, the bands grew side by side — from intimate club tours across Canada to headlining arenas and major festivals worldwide.
Their journeys have been deeply intertwined, marked by shared tours, international success, and a long-standing friendship forged on the road.
Revisiting Crisis: A Darker, Defining Moment
Released in 2006, Crisis marked a pivotal shift for Alexisonfire. Drawing inspiration from events like the Blizzard of ’77 — a theme woven directly into the album’s title track — the record embraced heavier subject matter and a darker emotional tone.
The album’s haunting cover art features photographs of the Niagara region during the devastating storm, reinforcing the gravity and introspection that define the record.
Musically, the band stripped down their production approach, focusing on capturing the raw energy of their live performances without excessive overdubs or layered studio polish. The result was a rhythmically adventurous and sonically authentic album that debuted at #1 on Canada’s Top 200 Soundscan chart and cemented the band’s legacy.
Frontman George Pettit reflects:
“It feels like you blink and all of a sudden your album is almost old enough to drink in the United States. So many incredible memories of making this record. It felt like we were really coming into our own as a band. I’m happy we get to relive it this summer with all of you.”
Billy Talent II: A Global Breakthrough
Also released in 2006, Billy Talent II remains Billy Talent’s most commercially successful album to date. The record debuted at #1 on both the Canadian Albums Chart and the German Albums Chart, eventually earning 4× Platinum certification in Canada and 2× Platinum in Germany, with over one million copies sold worldwide.
The album delivered a string of enduring hits, including:
“Devil in a Midnight Mass”
“Fallen Leaves”
“Surrender”
“This Suffering”
“Red Flag”
“Red Flag” notably earned the band their American television debut with a performance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, further solidifying their international reach.
The record won the JUNO Award for Rock Album of the Year and multiple MuchMusic Video Awards, establishing Billy Talent as a dominant force in global rock.
Continuing Impact
Alexisonfire has sold over one million records and released five studio albums, four of which achieved Platinum certification. Their 2022 release Otherness earned the 2023 JUNO Award for Rock Album of the Year, reaffirming their continued relevance more than two decades into their career.
Billy Talent, meanwhile, boasts nearly three million albums sold internationally, over two billion global streams, and seven JUNO Awards from 23 nominations. In 2026, the band will be honoured with the prestigious Humanitarian Award at the JUNO Awards, recognizing decades of philanthropic efforts through partnerships with organizations such as Make Music Matter, War Child, and MS Canada.
A Celebration 20 Years in the Making
These two shows are more than anniversary concerts — they are a celebration of an era that shaped Canadian alternative and post-hardcore music on a global scale. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, the performances promise nostalgia, intensity, and the unmistakable energy that made Crisis and Billy Talent II era-defining albums.
Twenty years later, the soundtrack of a generation returns to the stage — louder than ever.
